All Star Parade in New York

More than one million people, including 64 current Major League Baseball players, and 49 retired Hall of Famers are expected to attend the All Star Parade in New York City today according to Major League Baseball (MLB). The All Star Parade preceding the Major League Baseball All Star Game is scheduled for 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The All Star Parade comes hours before the much-anticipated 79th All-Star game which starts at 8 p.m. at Yankee Stadium on July 15, 2008.

All Star Parade Route

The All Star Parade, aka the All-Star Game Red Carpet Parade, begins at 40th Street and Sixth Avenue. The All Star Parade heads North to 58th Street, where it moves East to Plaza Street. The all stars will head North on Plaza Street, to Central Park. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be in attendance.

Attending the All Star Parade

New York Yankees fans will be pleased by All Star Parade participants Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Alex Rodriguez.Some of the Major League Baseball players on the All Star Game roster are also expected to be in attendance.

American League Players

American League playing in the last All Star Game at Yankee Stadium include Joe Mauer (MIN), Kevin Youkilis (BOS), Dustin Pedroia (BOS), Derek Jeter (NYY), Alex Rodriguez, (NYY), Josh Hamilton (TEX), Manny Ramirez (BOS) , Ichiro Suzuki, (SEA), and David Ortiz (BOS).

National League Players

National League players on the team include Geovany Soto, Lance Berkman, Chase Utley, Hanley Ramirez, Chipper Jones, Ryan Braun, Kosuke Fukudome, Matt Holliday and Alfonso Soriano.

Hall of Famers

Baseball fans can see 49 Hall of Famers in the All Star Parade, including Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Goose Gossag, Hank Aaron, illy Mays, and Reggie Jackson. (MLB)

Navigating Around New York City

New Yorkers accustomed to taking buses may be diverted on July 15, 2008 until 6 p.m. due to the All Star Parade, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. For more information please call New York City Transit Travel Information Center at (718) 330-1234.

New York City streets which will be closed until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 include 6th Ave. between 58th and 40th Streets. Note; the western lanes will remain closed until 6 p.m.

40th Street between 6th and Madison Aves., and between 6th Ave. and Broadway

47th and 48th Streets between 6th and 7th Avenues

58th Street between Plaza St. and 6th Ave. until 6 p.m.
